Course winner Daredevil Day was one of the outsiders of the field for the Easy Clean Limited Handicap at Killarney but the Holy Roman Emperor five-year-old came home in front in the hands of Gary Carroll.
In the aftermath winning trainer Joe Murphy commented: "He has always been a lovely horse but it has taken him two years to come down the handicap. We always thought he'd do that some day and he's a very honest and genuine horse."
Murphy had just witnessed Daredevil Day come through from towards the rear on the outer in the final quarter mile. He led a furlong out before going on for a convincing two and a half length success over last year's winner of the contest, Xebec (had endeavoured to make all).
"He has had a back operation and has a pin in his leg so I'm delighted for his owners (Irish Racing Yearbook Racing Club, headed by John Fleming) to win today," further explained the winning handler.
