Dawn takes the feature for Kelly & Short Pat Kelly recorded his second winner of the Killarney July Festival, as his Dawn Raider landed the feature Bet Through The Racing Post App Handicap Hurdle. Without a win in twelve starts before today, the son of Mahler was available at 11/1 last night, but that price was quickly snapped up. He opened on-course at just 4/1, before going off the 9/2 joint-favourite under seven pound claimer Adam Short. Settled behind the leaders, the five-year-old gelding travelled strongly to challenge between horses from three out, and led after the next. He was kept up to his work on the run-in, staying on well to score by four and a quarter lengths. Conduct Yourself, who was the other joint-favourite, finished second under Barry Browne for John Kiely, while Ask Susan (11/2) was half a length away in third for Mark Enright and John Nicholson. Morning favourite Wood Breizh went as high as 8/1 on-course, and he finished fourth at 7/1 with Ruby Walsh in the saddle for Willie Mullins. Kelly, who was on the mark with Lizzies Champ on Monday, said afterwards: "I thought he'd have won before now but he had been running well. He'll get an entry in the three miles handicap hurdle at Galway now." Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes
