After winning the first race of the 2012 Turf season at the Curragh in March, Dawn Approach followed up in tremendous style taking the Fishery Lane Race over 6f for his trainer Jim Bolger with Kevin Manning in the saddle.
The son of 2008 Epsom Derby hero New Approach (was his first runner), tracked the leader Canary Row in the early stages before moving into the lead when travelling best under two furlong out.
He soon asserted and went clear inside the final furlong, keeping on strongly to win by five and a half lengths.
Canary Row, who finished second to the winner at the Curragh in March, kept on to take second at 11/2 for Niall McCullagh and Patrick Prendergast.
Ballydoyle newcomer Parliament Square hung right and interfered with Tennessee Wildcat outside the final furlong while Tennessee Wildcat then hung badly right as the approached the finish.
The winner was well supported this morning from his opening show of 6/4 and was returned the 4/6 favourite.
Winning trainer Jim Bolger said afterwards: "He is a smart horse. We have a choice of races for him now (at Royal Ascot). I was originally thinking of the Chesham but Kevin said he could go anywhere and when he says that they can go anywhere.
"Paddy Spain (his joint owner) is a very patient man. The dam was quiet good too. She had a fall on a gravel path and had a lot of chips in her joint and we could never get her right.
"We didn’t get the breeding right with her at first but I still had the confidence to send her to a Derby winner."
