Rae's Creek the strongly-backed 10/11 favourite, got off the mark on outing number five in the Ladies Day 24th June Maiden at Ballinrobe.
Fran Berry tracked the leaders on the New Approach chestnut and he delivered his challenge to the pace-setting Dalasiri at the two pole.
If those that invested in the 'shortie' were worried for a stride or two, about whether he'd go and get the job done, they shouldn't have been as Jessica Harrington's charge asserted from over a furlong out to win by three and a half lengths.
Berry, fresh from a good weekend at the Curragh, said: "He was well entitled to win that. We had the hood back on today and he got in a nice position. If he keeps settling like he did there he'll improve.
"Once he got to the front he just went through the motions. I think he's capable of winning a handicap over a mile and six to two miles." (DM & EM)
