Cooper doubles up on Monotype Monotype got a strong drive from Bryan Cooper as he recorded a quick double at Wexford this afternoon. Paul Nolan's charge was sent to post the 2/1 favourite for the rated hurdle and was pushed along into contention turning for home. The Makfi gelding claimed Getoutwhenyoucan over the second last and held Great Khan in the closing stages to record a half length victory. Monotype had finished mid-division in a competitive handicap at Punchestown on his last outing. Nolan said:- "It's tackier ground and slower ground than Punchestown. At Punchestown he just couldn't go the pace. He took off a bit then at the third last when he was sort of nowhere, and Bryan was hard on him then to finish ninth. "We were a bit worried then because it was only ten days ago, but he was very gutsy there today. He was beaten nearly at the start, he couldn't go the pace and they went quick enough. He just out battled him (Great Khan) then to the line. If he hadn't of jumped the last he would have been beaten. "Bryan was brilliant on him. He is a top class jockey, he is a multiple Grade 1 winning jockey, and we'll use him when we get him. "He is definitely a winter ground horse and I don't want to be going around during the summer guessing about ground. He has a hard enough season, and he might make a nice staying chaser for next season." (Quotes by Donal Murphy)
