Coral Cup winning jockey Richard Condon registered a first winner for Gordon Elliott today, steering Hophornbeam (7/2) to win the Clonmel's Clonmel Show Sunday Mares Handicap Hurdle

Having her first start for Elliott, the daughter of Yeats led before the second last and scored readily by four and a half lengths from 13/8 favourite Cottie

Jockey Condon later said “it was a great training performance by Gordon and that's my first winner for him. All credit to him and my job was simple enough.

“I was confident racing upsides the favourite at the second last and knew there wasn't anything coming from the back. I got from A to B and she had loads left when we got in close to the last.

“This series for the lads and the likes of me with less winners in the season is great and I'm delighted with the opportunities.”
