Concorde set to take off at Navan All eyes will be on Dermot Weld's Cheltenham Festival Bumper winner Silver Concorde when he makes his Flat debut in the Win A Ski Holiday Racecard Competition Maiden at Navan. While the six-year-old had the tables turned on him by Willie Mullins' Shaneshill at Punchestown, the softer ground was not in his favour that day. He oozed class when winning at Prestbury Park in March and while it is a surprise to see him appear so late in the season, he is an interesting contender. Logic would suggest that a maiden such as this over two miles would be a mere formality but things are rarely so straightforward. Elsewhere on a card dominated by maidens, Aidan O'Brien's Easter looks first choice for the stable in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden. The Galileo filly is from the family of Cacoethes, who had the misfortune to keep bumping into Nashwan back in 1989. As a quirk of fate, one of O'Brien's other runners in the race, On A Pedestal, by Montjeu, is out of a Nashwan mare. The stable's apparent third-string, on jockey bookings anyway, is Diamond Bangle, a full sister to Rip Van Winkle. In the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C & G) Maiden, O'Brien's Giovanni Canaletto will grab the attention as a full-brother to Derby winner Ruler Of The World. He still holds an entry in the Dewhurst and the Racing Post Trophy, as well as next season's Classics, so it would be no surprise to see him stamp his authority on a maiden. In the closing 10-furlong maiden, Andy Oliver's Team Valor newcomer Tannery is interesting as a half-brother to Clive Brittain's Falmouth winner Rajeem. Ger Lyons does well with horses that cost a fraction of some and his Vale Of York debutante Vale Do Sol may be worth monitoring.
