Cloudgazer landed a nice gamble when claiming the Lynn Lodge Stud Maiden at Navan for Noel Meade.
The Dalakhani gelding had been backed from 10/1 this morning and was eventually sent off 5/2 favourite on course.
Colm O'Donoghue sent him to the front a furlong-and-a-half from home and shook off the attentions of Aragorn Rouge inside the final furlong to score by a length.
The winner was mid-division on his debut at the Curragh last month and stepped up from that run.
"I like this horse. I think he wants further, 1m4f or 1m6f, and I think he will improve again," said Meade.
The winner is owned by Pat Garvey, a good owner for the yard and Meade added:"He's had a heap of good horses for me - the likes of Hill Society."
It was a good evening for Meade, who had also struck down in Wexford when Virgil Earp took the opening maiden hurdle.
