The Pat Flynn trained Prince Chapparral landed the Ballyleague Maiden, at 10/1, to provide jockey Danny Grant with his 14th winner of the year.
The son of High Chapparral raced in mid-division, was under pressure entering the straight but did eventually wear his rivals down inside the final furlong, to score a neck success over Dactik
Flynn was not present but Grant did mention “Prince Chapparral is still a bit weak but did it well - he'd prefer more of a 'dig' in the ground though.”
Prince Chapparral carried the colours of Tullamore hotelier Christy Maye, whose Cloughtaney was a fair money-spinner in the late 80s/early 90s for Paddy Mullins.
