Brace Yourself went into plenty of notebooks after drawing right away in Down Royal's bumper.
He strode to the front under Nina Carberry at the two pole and went further and further clear. He was eased down in the final furlong but still posted a 24-length victory.
The 7/4 chance left 6/4 favourite Dorydalis in his wake.
Trainer Noel Meade said: "We bought him from Warren Ewing at the Sales in Cheltenham not that long ago. He recommended him very highly to us and he was right.
"We did one piece of work with him and Jonny Moore rode him and said he would be hard to beat wherever he goes.
"We were going to go to Leopardstown with him and then his owner decided he wasn't going to go racing today so we said we would bring him up here and his brother came.
"He'll go for another bumper. He won't run over hurdles this season, we'll keep him to next year. He'll have another run later on and we'll see how we get on.
"It's hard to know just where you are with that race because Jamie (Codd on Dorydalis) went a hell of a gallop and he just probably fell in a hole.
"Nina liked him anyway and he seemed to do it well. He's a racehorse anyway."
Brace Yourself gave Carberry two winners at the meeting as she also scored on Gilgamboa
