Caesar's Comet gained a second course and distance success over Fairyhouse's six furlongs trip today when landing the Membership Now On Sale Apprentice Handicap (div 1) for trainer Denis Hogan and jockey Killian Leonard.
Caesar's Comet had previously shed his maiden tag for previous trainer Peter Fahey at the Meath venue in July and today doubled his score when beating Fuwairt by half a length, in a tight finish.
The winning half length margin was the largest distance until the 16th placed horse (of 18 runners), while 12th placed Ishebayorgrey was beaten just 3.23L by the winner.
Hogan wasn't present but Leonard later said “he's won snug enough. He's a tough old horse, he loves the ground and the trip seems to be okay.
“He's a nice horse and he's done it well at the line. I've watched his videos and I saw him doing it well here earlier in the year.
“I asked Kevin (Manning) about him. He liked him and said he's a grand horse that hits the line well the whole time but he just wondered would this trip be a bit sharp but he's done it well.”
