Byrnes pleased with Solwhit Charles Byrnes reports Solwhit in good shape following his comeback after nearly two years on the sidelines at Punchestown yesterday. The French-bred eight-year-old only gave best approaching the last when runner-up to Bog Warrior in the 2m4f Follow Punchestown on Facebook Hurdle, and the Co. Limerick handler is pleased with the gelding following the run. Speaking after saddling Milborough to successfully overcome a 13 month lay-off in the 2m5f maiden hurdle at Tramore this afternoon, Byrnes said “Solwhit has come out of the race very well, and I was delighted with the way he travelled and jumped. “He travelled like the good horse we know he is, and just got tired in the straight. In that ground he was up against a fair one in Bog Warrior. “The Limestone Lad Hurdle at Naas (Grade 3 over 2m3f on January 19) is a possibility, although I will need to have a look at the conditions of the race.” The six-time Grade 1 winner was off the course with tendon damage since finishing second to Hurricane Fly in the BHP Insurance Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown in January 2011.
