Boogie helps Glynn back to form Noel Glynn have been missed in the winner's enclosures around the country in recent times but the quirky trainer registered his first winner in over a year when his Flatfoot Boogie caused a 16/1 upset in the Corkracecourse.ie Maiden Hurdle at Cork today, under a winning spare ride for Andrew McNamara. Jockey Andrew Lynch missed the ride having suffered soft tissue damage from a fall from Foolish Notion in the previous contest but McNamara made the most of the opportunity, keeping the gelding going in the closing stages for a length win over well backed 13/8 favourite Hilltop Tommy. Larger than life Glynn later revealed “my mother is in a nursing home and has had more problems than this fellow! I bought him (Flatfoot Boogie) as a yearling in France from the same man I bought Old McDonald, but have been nursing him for seven years since!” He added “he was as big as a bull coming here today and if he stands up, should make a nice chaser. I'll take him home and admire him for a while first though!” By Thomas Weekes
