Shay Barry hadn't trained a winner at his local track before this evening but he put that right in no uncertain terms when completing a 296/1 treble as Kalanisi King took the bumper at Tramore.
Barry was on the mark earlier on the card with the Brian O'Connell-ridden pair Time For Bucks and Patsio and this time Katie O'Farrell was seen to very good effect on the well-backed 9/2 (from 6/1) winner.
She got a lovely run up the inner to head Spicy Fruity a furlong out, and kept on well to score by a length and a quarter. Dixie Lee stayed on well up the hill for second, while newcomer Lady Artemis also put in her best work at the finish to be another three lengths back in third.
Barry said, "It's a great day and it's great to do it at my local track. I rode a treble here before. They are healthy now but were under the weather earlier in the year.
"It's a team job and I have brilliant staff. Hopefully they will keep healthy and keep going. I own half of this one myself. Johnny Burke from Sligo is the other man involved (in the Two Plus Two Syndicate)."
