As You Were made an impressive debut for Emmet Mullins when scoring under his cousin Patrick in the concluding bumper at Thurles this afternoon.
The French-bred gelding tracked the leaders in the two-mile contest before getting a nice split to challenge turning for home.
The 4/1 shot hit the front two furlongs from home and was ridden clear in the closing stages to post a 16-length winning margin over 6/4 favourite Judgement Day
"He's a lovely big horse and very lairy as you could see the first time around (when pushed along passing stands). Once you get stuck into him there is a big engine there,” said the winning trainer.
"I'm not sure where we will go from here but I'd say Patrick would want to go for a winners' bumper."
