As You Were looks smart in bumper As You Were made an impressive debut for Emmet Mullins when scoring under his cousin Patrick in the concluding bumper at Thurles this afternoon. The French-bred gelding tracked the leaders in the two-mile contest before getting a nice split to challenge turning for home. The 4/1 shot hit the front two furlongs from home and was ridden clear in the closing stages to post a 16-length winning margin over 6/4 favourite Judgement Day. "He's a lovely big horse and very lairy as you could see the first time around (when pushed along passing stands). Once you get stuck into him there is a big engine there,” said the winning trainer. "I'm not sure where we will go from here but I'd say Patrick would want to go for a winners' bumper." (Quotes by Alan Magee)
