Another Gold for the Kennedys on Thyestes Day at Gowran Thirty five minutes on from his brother Jack’s big success in the Thyestes, Paddy Kennedy struck in the Daly Farrell Chartered Accountants Beginners Chase at Gowran for local handler Tom Foley aboard Rebel Gold. Given his profile — most recent from figures of ‘ff6u’ — Antey perhaps surprisingly went off a skimpy 5/4 favourite for this two miler. The market-leader seemed to do a lot right from the front this time, but Rebel Gold (4/1) put it to him from before three out. Rated 132 coming in here Rebel Gold (not always fluent in the jumping department) was too strong from the last as Antey chased home at a distance of two and a half lengths. Jungle Junction (3/1) ended up eight and a half lengths back in third. "That was great to get it and he had run well in his two chases so far. It is nice to see him continuing to progress and he was always going to make a better chaser than hurdler,” said Foley’s son Pat. "He is a fantastic jumper, is 132 over fences already and we'll see what the handicapper does with him now but there'll be a nice handicap in him. "The Shamrock Handicap Chase back here in March will probably be his next race. He's not really ground dependent so we will keep him going over the summer. "Dad is in good spirits and that'll be a good tonic for him and keep him happy." (TW & EM)
