Acronym seals Elliott's Ballinrobe double Acronym was a ready winner of the BetVictor Maiden Hurdle in Ballinrobe to give Gordon Elliott a double on the card. Conor Brassil's mount took over from Hell Or High Water making the top turn and travelled well to the last in this extended two mile five contest. He was ridden rounding the home bend and shot clear to win by four and three quarter lengths at 8/1. Castle North, the 7/4 favourite, could make no impression on the winner in second. Summer Hill, who was well punted from 8/1 to 7/2, gave his backers an each-way dividend in third. "He'll run away for the summer and he was entitled to win," said stable representative Mouse O'Ryan. Conor Brassil commented: "I've not had a winner in a while so it's nice to get it. I was second in the first here too so hopefully things continue going in the right direction." The Stewards requested a report from Gordon Elliott, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Acronym, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Aidan O'Ryan, Authorised representative for Gordon Elliot reported that their charge had failed to act on the soft underfoot conditions in recent runs and the return to a sound surface brought about the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report. Additional reporting by Eamonn Murphy
