55/1 Double for McNamara at Thurles Andrew McNamara completed a 55/1 double in the Clonoulty Handicap Hurdle on his father and namesake's Zanwood, who kept going better than Top Mark, to prevail by a length and a quarter. This son of Snurge hadn't enjoyed much luck lately, falling, running out and basically stopping to nothing when all over a winner last time, but after being in front before three out in this two miler, he found plenty to fend off Top Mark, who had arrived with what looked a winning challenge, in the straight. McNamara senior credited famed bone-setter and 'back-man,' Dan O'Neill, of Danoli fame, with getting the horse right. The yard was registering their second success of the month following on from The Dashing Doctor's win at Limerick. McNamara junior had earlier prevailed on Edward O'Grady's Herkel in the opener. (EM)
