Navan Sat, 27th Apr, 2024  Unavoidable He did it very well to be fair to him. He's a lovely big horse and just took plenty of time to come to himself. He has a big frame so I thought he would be a bit green today, and he probably was, but he toughed it out. Nice to win first time. He doesn't have a whole pile of experience, so I'd say he just got a little bit lonely when he got there. The other horse (Rock Of Ireland) seemed to fight back as well. He'll be a lovely horse going forward, hopefully. Yes, no problem (stay 1m4f). I think ground is probably important enough to him. He's a real nice mover, so I'd say quick ground is probably important to him. We will look for some kind of winners' race now and see where he stands.

Cork Sat, 30th Mar, 2024  One Look She did exactly what we were hoping she would do. We got her out, got her some exercise and education and it has gone to plan, so I’m very happy,. We had the plan in our head that we were coming (regardless of the heavy ground), she settled and quickened and it was pretty straightforward. I don’t think I’ve trained many 1-20 shots!. That was her first piece of work for the year, so we’ll sit down and make a plan. We have a couple of more fillies to run, so we will see where we go but she is in the Irish, English, French and German Guineas. If she runs in Newmarket (English 1000 Guineas), she would go straight there, but if she runs in Ireland, she might run again. She is a lovely-actioned filly, was ready to run today and I think she’ll progress plenty.

It’s a big call for three-year-olds against older horses on that ground at this time of the year. She’ll step up and a mile is good for her. That will be her trial and she’ll go into one of the Guineas now after that. She might end up going to Newmarket and back here. She doesn’t really want that ground but she went in it. A mile is probably her trip and she’s a sister to Alcohol Free. Ryan is heading to Australia for the Golden Slipper tomorrow and we didn’t want him dropping down too low this time of the year. It’s a long year and he has a long trip.

Punchestown Mon, 29th Jan, 2024  Eagles Reign I'm delighted, he's been consistent. We had him in the maiden yesterday (at Naas), it looked competitive enough and this was probably the better option. He's honest and is after winning in his own bracket there, which is great. He's a horse that didn't show a whole lot on the Flat, but jumping has brought him out of himself. He's only rated in the 50s on the Flat. It couldn't happen for a better owner. Tommy Ward is as good a man as you'll get and it's great to get a winner for him at his local track. He'll probably get a little bit further in time. He wasn't a superstar on the Flat, but he seems a more consistent, and a better horse, jumping. He might win another little handicap somewhere along the way.
