Winning hurdle debut for Balnaslow
we might keep Balnaslow going if the ground stays right. He'll go on good ground and if we could win another hurdle with him shortly I'd suggest to the owners that we go chasing next term - he's an absolute natural jumper.
Carr back motoring
I had Dunroe Boy entered at Clonmel tomorrow and it's a pity I didn't leave him in! There aren't too many similar opportunities here in the next ten days so I might bring him to Perth next Thursday with a few others. My horses ran terrible all winter (Dunroe Boy's form read '9PPP0' during that period) but they are all running well now although they are not working any better at home.
Ligeonniere rout on chase debut
he was electric! He just met one wrong but for a big horse to be as agile is promising. I doubt we'll get another run into him unless we get an awful summer but we'll see what happens in the next few weeks. That will probably be it until next season though.
'Wind op' helps Droim beat
we got Droim Toll done for his palate and that made the difference. I was afraid the ground was gone for him as he needs it soft - we'll probably leave him off now.
Bishopscourt 'jolly' proves Goodenough!
Mr Goodenough might go handicap chasing now. With the penalty system in hunters' chases, he would have to carry 12st 7lbs in next year's race and he isn't a big horse. He will go out on his holidays now as he wants soft ground and will probably go handicap chasing later in the year.
Bolger back from the Fringe
On The Fringe will continue to mix it between cross-country and hunter chases - he got a stone bruise when he was over at Cheltenham and that is why he didn't run there. He is still a relatively fresh horse and should make up into a nice La Touche horse in time as he is good at the banks.
Operating makes it third time lucky
Mark (Fahey) reported to me that he was hanging out a bit in the straight. He is a big three mile chaser and we'll put him away now and he'll come back over hurdles as his is still only a five year old.
