Harrington & Foley strike in day three opener
She enjoys that slow ground and that's a nice trip for her. She ran well against the older horses last time at Leopardstown and Mr Weld's horse (Coeur D'or) franked the form last night, he was just in front of her. It was a good run on probably a little bit tighter ground than ideal. She seems to enjoy that soft ground and is a filly we always loved as a two-year-old. She's only showing us now what she showed us early last year. We've had two winners so far this week and probably should have had another one last night but that's Galway for you. Jessie is a phenomenal woman but there's a big team behind her and everybody rolls in and helps. It's great to see her here today. Harrington added: .It was a little bit tense in the last few strides. She's a filly that doesn't do a whole lot when she gets to the front,. As soon as she felt the horse beside her she put her head down again. The Brosnans are terrific breeders and great supporters. She's a grand filly, she's tough and hardy and she's very consistent. She's getting there and I have actually pencilled her in for the Hurry Harriet, which has been moved to the Curragh, on Sunday week. That could be a possibility.
Kilbeggan bumper winner turns over Irish Derby fifth
Last Ammo hits the target at 40/1
It's terrific. It's great for the lads (Rock Bar Syndicate) who are great local supporters of mine. This is massive and it's huge for all of us to be honest. I'm very grateful for the support. We felt we should come to Galway as that's what a syndicate horse is all about and there was an element of a social runner with him. I got it completely wrong with this fella as I thought he wanted very fast ground. I didn't expect him to handle the ground but obviously I'm wrong and he probably wants a bit of juice in it. It's a much improved performance and Jack's 7lb is huge. He gave him a beautiful ride all the way, never got checked at any stage. We have great luck together, Jack and myself.
Local lad Gilligan wins the Plate on Elliott's Ash Tree Meadow
This race has been the plan since last year,. Eamon and Robbie (Waters) have given great support. In horses you have good and bad days but I'm so lucky with the bunch of owners I have, the staff I have and horses I have. I'm very lucky and without these people I can't do it. They give me the horses and I can't thank them enough. When kept Danny's claim, he was injured, and this has been the plan with him. We said we'd mind him for this, we're delighted. It's great for Eamon, he's getting a little bit too much into the Flat racing but after winning the Galway Plate we might get him into a few more jumpers.
Own digs deep to land mares contest
She's tough and when she won her bumper she was as tough as anything as well. It took her a while to get a hang of the jumping and she never really got nice ground so we put her away after her last run,. She's a lovely filly to have and it's great that she's done this. Hopefully she can pick up a bit of black-type somewhere along the way for the lads. She's not short of pace and she'll go back on the Flat as well. They'll have plenty of options with her, she won a point-to-point as well so there's no reason why she can't go either way. It's great to get another winner as they've been running well without winning for the past two days. This gives me reason to celebrate and have the craic!'
High Class Hero makes all under Townend
It was a nice tactical front-running ride from Paul. The horses was a little green in front but he's a steeplechaser to look at. He'll probably stay novice hurdling this year but you'd think there would be a lovely future for him over fences. He showed a good attitude when they came around him and he picked up and went on again. It shows he has plenty of stamina and he looks to be a fabulous jumper. All and all he's a nice horse to look forward to. It'll be staying novices this season and then over fences after that.
Dead heat keeps Northern connections happy
We thought we were beaten and looking at the photo finish he had his head to the floor, he dipped his head at the right time. He's a magical horse to have, a Galway festival winner, and for two small teams like ourselves to come down here and have a winner like that is brilliant. We'll enjoy it together. He was keen the whole way but we're down in Galway, we've had our winner and it's brilliant. He'll probably go on a bit of a holiday now as he's after having three quick runs. We're not worried about anything for the future at the moment.
