Ballyadam Brook completes hat-trick
we started the year hoping Ballyadam Brook would win a handicap from a rating of 85 or 90 and while he has obviously improved a lot, I never expected him to improve this much. He had an operation on his nostrils and it has proven a great success. he didn't jump with much fluency today again, but is much better over fences. We may run him in a novice hurdle at Listowel in September and then give him a break before maybe going chasing around Christmas time.
Novel Investment scores for Doyle and Brassil
Novel Investment was a bit unlucky when he slipped on landing at the second last flight at Limerick the last day and deserved that win. We may run him again on Saturday in another handicap hurdle and he seems to be better going right-handed.
Hoopy survives Enquiry for Galway glory
Weld's Endless flow of winners continues
Finger Onthe Pulse wins Galway Plate
that's a great result .I had previously won the 1990 Galway Hurdle (Athy Spirit) but this is my first time winning the Plate. Finger Onthe Pulse was originally owned by financier Conor Clarkson and won the Jewson Chase at Cheltenham for us. However the horse lost his way and when circumstances changed and Conor needed to sell him (Finger Onthe Pulse was entered but subsequently withdrawn from Doncaster's Horses In Training Sale in May 2009), I was so so fortunate that J.P. McManus was big enough and bold enough to buy him and leave him in my yard. I also must praise the brilliant winning ride from Tony but must sympathise with Mark Walsh for missing the winning ride. However, Mark understands that Tony McCoy is retained by J.P. McManus.
Weld records eighth Galway winner
Rock Critic is an odd type of horse and can give trouble entering stalls but today he was at his best behaviour and I was delighted to be drawn wideish with him. He will run again at Naas on Monday.
Manning scores on New Magic
New Magic lacked a bit of experience but ran well at The Curragh the last day . we will step her up to 10 furlongs later in the year.
Unaccompanied completes Weld's hat-trick
Pat gave Unaccompanied a very good ride and she did get a bit unbalanced two furlongs out but battled well. I was worried that the ground might be a bit too quick for her as she would prefer a good cut in the ground.
