Galileo proves the right Choice
I feel for the connections of the second but they are two good novice hurdle horses, and its most unusual for Galway to go 28 lengths clear of the rest. Robbie had to go when he did and just got tired in the last 100 yards. He jumped well for a first run over hurdles, and the logical step is to go for a winners-of-one at Listowel.
Royal performance from Reveille
He's done it well and settled much better today. He ran too free at both Punchestown and Gowran but he jumped well and travelled well today.
Gala runs his rivals ragged
Michael bounced him out well at the start and gave him a lovely ride. He never missed a beat. There was a lot of incident in behind but on the day I think my fella was going to be hard to beat.
Moment causes shock in amateur maiden
She won well over hurdles at Wexford but then lost her way a little. I think she needs to arrive at the track a bit revved up, and its my fault that I eased off her a bit. Barry gave her a good ride from the front, and filled her with air before going up the hill. We'll look at Listowel for maybe a hurdle, and she has been schooled over fences. I'd like to get her some black type either over hurdles or fences before she retires to the paddock. Alan Magee
Tempo provides Mullins with first Plate victory
Her last run at Punchestown was good, and it was great to get in here off a real racing weight. Paul gave me a fright when he was on his back schooling this morning but thankfully both himself and that horse were fine. My three runners today could all go for the Kerry National, and this mare may possibly be a Hennessy horse. She stays better now than she used to.
Weld doubles up with Duke
We decided to change tactics today and drop him out as he was drawn so wide (stall 17). They went pretty fast which helped, and he came home well. I was disappointed with him at Killarney where he was never going but he's a bit of a character.
Everything worked out well, and Ben gave him a great ride. He's been improving all year, although it took him a few runs for the penny to drop. He's hardy and I've been keeping him busy but he's got his reward now.
Wisdom makes it a magnificent seven for Weld
He did it nicely and I thought he'd be hard to beat, especially when the bit of rain came. He has been very backward but progressed well from his last run at Fairyhouse. It was not the greatest of maidens but he'll probably go for a winners-of-one now and I believe he'll make into a Listed horse.
