Dabirann does the business in Dundalk opener
I'd say he is just getting better with racing. The extra furlong brought out the best in him. He has a great temperament and is a horse I'd say would get better with racing. He has a great mind and is tough out. He gets the trip well. The two runs stood to him I'd say. In his homework, he had stepped forward from the last day. I was glad that Morse wasn't there, I had a lot of respect for him. When he wasn't there, I thought on his homework he would be hard to beat. A horse for next year and a very solid, sound horse.
Sand too strong for hotpot Trouble
Maybe she has run one bad race. She has never had luck - if you look back, she has been stopped, turned over and been really unlucky. She well deserved that. I'm delighted for the syndicate because I know they were getting a bit despondent. I've never seen a horse with such bad luck and then I saw the draw, 11!. Wayne just said she didn't jump that great and wasn't really travelling so he took his medicine, went up the inside, bided his time and the more she went the better she started to go. Then he had to take a pull down the far bend when it got tight. I'm delighted how she finished out. . I'd say she will be claimed now and I think they are fine with that. Hopefully they will go again with a two-year-old. Job done.
Cool collects again in nursery
I'm very happy with that. We felt he had improved and, speaking to Colin beforehand, we thought he needed to to win that. He's a horse that has been progressing all year. He has taken time and is a very big horse, but a lovely horse for the future we think. We've looked through the stats and not too many horses have tried to do that (juvenile carrying 10st 4lb). We know he is a big horse, he is well able to carry the weight so we said we'd have a go. Our horses are running well up here and now is the time to do it. I think Colin was impressed with him today.
Scotia lands the odds for O'Callaghan
Bit disappointed it took us this long to win with this lad. My own fault probably running him in the Killavullan. We think he is kind of a nice horse and the ground went soft and we let him take his chance. He wants a sound surface like that. Colin was delighted with him today and said he has a lot of natural pace and he just wants to please you. He has a great attitude and he can see him mixing it up next year. He thinks he could be a stakes horse as he matures. We kind of always thought that at home. He was a big, muscular, gross horse and it (gelding) really helped him. He has tightened up.
Kingdom comes good in style
It worked out very well. I think he is a horse that likes space - in Galway he was in front and I think he enjoyed that. He is well handicapped if you look at his form from England. He's a very quirky horse. When we bought him, Joe Foley told me they thought he was a Guineas horse as a two-year-old, but I think he has his own ideas about the game. He was on a going day today obviously, so that was great. He has got ability but he doesn't always give it to you, but he has today and the owner has been very patient.
Backers celebrating as Cheers lands gamble
He came back (after Cork) and he was all wrong and I gave him a break. I honestly thought he wanted further because he was maybe a bit weak. When we brought him back, the more we did with him, the quicker he was getting. His pedigree suggested this trip. In fairness, John (Eastwood, owner) lost plenty of money on him in Cork so it was great to get a bit back today. Rory has ridden horses for me for ages and I gave him nothing but rubbish, so it is nice to give him a winner!. He'll run once more but he's a big baby and I don't want to kill him. I won't rush him back, maybe the middle of January.
Blu makes the breakthrough
She was fourth to Emily Dickinson in Naas and she had good runs early and then her form tailed off. I don't know why and we let her off. She would have improved from the run the last day, that was her first run back after a break. Hopefully she goes on from that now. . She's actually a brilliant jumper. Her future probably lies over hurdles eventually. She probably won't run over hurdles until the new season, we'll wait and run her over the summer over hurdles. We'll keep coming here for a few more times. The owner is a breeder and she is a winner now. She has a fairly decent pedigree.
