Sayifyouwill gives Stephen Thorne first winner in training ranks
We have all had to pull together on this one, frustrating. The last couple of runs she has been having a holiday, not going in (to stalls) on us. A cheap, fun horse we picked up at the HIT (Horses In Training) Sales. We have her about eight weeks and a solid filly for the all-weather. She ran a cracker the first night in the fillies' handicap. We had to iron a few things out with her. She has talent and hopefully she is a filly to look forward to for the winter months. Stephen (Mooney, assistant) is riding her out every day and we had to use the services of Will Hayes just to help her out on the weekend. We have spent all weekend with her, so we were practically living in the box with her the last couple of days!. It is magic, it is a proud moment in my life and it is great to get going with the licence. We are a little less than three weeks from taking it out and we have plenty that have hit the board. I'm delighted to get it and delighted that she was the first winner. She proved difficult, but we got there in the end. She's a half (sister) to a stakes winner, we were going to pitch her back into the February Sale or something like that - she will always have a bit of residual value. She was bought to do this job and hopefully the owners will have a bit of fun with her. I've worked with plenty of top international trainers and I have my experience now, we just need a little bit of luck and a little bit of support. Home is home and it is very competitive in Ireland. Hopefull
Annaghmccanns completes across the card double for Crawford
She probably just has spooked a little bit coming out of the stalls the first day, she jinked a little bit to the left - just greenness. We are not big Flat trainers and we wouldn't have a lot of runners on the Flat. We might get a few more now it it was going to keep going like that!. She has (done it well and progressed from the first day) - to be fair, she stayed really well the last day, she had a lot of ground to make up. She was beaten a lot less the last day than what she lost and she stayed well. That's the only thing I said to Wayne was that I thought she stayed well. He used that little bit of information and all his years experience on top of that, and that was it. It worked out well and she stayed all the way to the line.
Forza Toro emulates brother in winning Dundalk maiden
He had a nice run the first day and that was just sort of an ideal opportunity for him today. He'll go on good ground. He's a good-actioned horse and he'll certainly go on good ground. He stayed the seven well, he could probably step up in time. He has a lot of class. I think we have run a couple of two-year-olds this year and both of them have won - Fregada and him - so they are two exciting horses. The form worked out (in Gowran Park, winner then finished second in a Group 2 at Doncaster). There was a couple of 70-rated horses and Ronan said they weren't good enough to lead him. It is a nice thing to say about him. Possibly not (anything here for him the rest of the year) - we will talk to the owner and make a plan, turf and Polytrack. He's just a good horse.
Shoot To Kill brings up Dundalk double for Stephen Thorne
It has been a great day, brilliant day. Thrilled to get going and a day I will never forget. The horse was good and Donagh was very good on him. We were drawn quite wide here the last night and things didn't really go well for us. He's been slipping down the weights. Threatened to win one this year, just hasn't fallen right for him. Inside draw there today, kept it very simple on him. It was the perfect set up. He has plenty of talent this horse, so I'm hoping that this will get confidence back into him. Hopefully, he will represent us well through the winter months. There's a lot of special people out there who wished me well and it is a proud day in my life, a new chapter in my life ready to begin. Half my life working in the industry and a lot of work and effort has gone into today. We are building for the future. To be a Shamrock Thoroughbreds horse, obviously something that I have put a lot of time and effort into. That's very special. Hopefully, the ball will get rolling.
Lord Talbot gallops on bravely for 33/1 success
He did everything wrong and still did it!. With the first-time visor, he was a bit free. He didn't give Robert the best of rides, he said he hung with him down the back. He was able to get a breather into him and he found. In fairness, he galloped well to the line. Very babyish still, I'd say. A lovely, scopey horse. First time up here as well, so he obviously handles this well.
Ryan doubles up on Trishuli River in Dundalk finale
Delighted!. The sire is Poet's Word, so should get the trip. That race was ideal today. I wouldn't mind dropping her back to a mile in that company. Hopefully, we can go to war again. Freshen her up and, whenever she is ready, we will go again.
