Back shows them the Way Home
I’m delighted for the owners Peter and Aidan (Comerford). They are good friends of dad and were nice enough to leave this horse with me. He was very disappointing on the Flat, and he ran so bad in Listowel that the following morning I put him over about 15 hurdles and he seemed to take to them well. He’s done that well and there is a Grade 3 here on Saturday week that I might stick him in. It might be a bit out of his league but we’ll see how he goes and see what the owners would like to do.
Black books Cheltenham ticket with maiden win
I thought she would do that the last day but thankfully she’s got her head in front today. She’ll go now for the Mares Novice Hurdle (at Cheltenham). She’s got good bumper form and has some experience now so she’ll be okay.
Tata left clear to win on return
We had a bit of luck on our side. Denis Hogan’s horse fell at the second last and Davy couldn’t say he would have won. What he did say was that she had a couple of blows and will come on a lot from the run. She’s a mare to look forward to if we can keep her in one piece. We’ll try to find some black type for her over fences, and there is a mares’ novice chase (Grade 2 Dawn Run) at Limerick on March 17th that she could go for. We’ve had her entered a few times but couldn’t run because of the ground, and that’s the first time we’ve had a little ease for her.
Benny bounces back in style
I was delighted with him. The race panned out nicely as they went an honest pace and he settled in lovely. He jumped well and was able to gain ground in the air.
Patience pays off with Devils
I thought he might have needed this run. I’ve been minding him ground wise. I walked the track on Monday and I was happy enough to run him.
Quantatmental opens jumps account for Cromwell
He came out of Tom Dascombe’s and I actually met him over at the Breeders Cup and we shared a taxi one morning. He said this horse needs good ground and we got it there today.
McDermott shines on Square
Sean said she took a long time to warm into it today. She did eventually and two and a half miles is her thing or maybe further. She won well in the end but I’d say they went too fast early on and she was ridden out the back.
