Vintage Salon takes well to hurdling
I ran her in four bumpers just because of her pedigree but she was just so disappointing. She has always worked like that (win) but possibly needed something to jump. Mark gave her a great, cheery ride for a mare having her first run over hurdles and we're delighted. Hopefully she can improve now - normally when they win first-time over hurdles it's a great sign but we'll keep her low-key next time.
Delegate overcomes heart-stopping moment
The one thing I do like about it is he stuck his head out where it mattered - people would have had their doubts about him six months ago, they would have thought he'd have thrown in the towel but there was no sign of that today and he stuck his head out well. He's definitely one to look forward to for summer chasing, if that's the route he goes, because he is crying out for a fence. He's paying them well and I'm looking forward to going chasing with him. He'll get an entry in the Galway Hurdle - I was going to go chasing but he has won three hurdles now so we'll see. He seems to have turned the corner.
Hughes surprised as Herbiegoesbananas
That was a nice surprise but he is by Presenting and is very ground dependent and only got his ground now. I didn't think he was up to winning a maiden but he will be best when he goes chasing and will go chasing shortly.
Steamboat Bill brings up Elliott double
He wouldn't want extremes of ground and I'll speak to the owners about going to Galway. Jack was very good on him.
Brassil boots home 373/1 double
He always works well but it was too soft for him the last day and he has also been unlucky a few times. Conor gave him a good ride and kept to the better ground on the outside and his claim was also a big help. He'll go for something similar next and is a real two-mile horse.
Baltimore Buzz strides home in style
He ran very well in his maiden hurdle and there were winners which came out of that race and I was confident he'd win today. I was hoping for a bit of rain and it came in time. He couldn't win a point-to-point but jumps very well and he'll be a chaser in time. I'll look for a maiden hurdle next.
Mangan plots right way home on Pursecco
She's a lovely mare but got wound up by the crowds at Tramore the last day. She has settled today and Jane walked the track and it was a huge help being on the outside. It was very good thinking to have her on the right place. She'll go back over hurdles next. She is owned by a very enthusiastic syndicate who are fishermen and shooting people - hence the Fin & Feather Syndicate.
