Ballydoyle 'bridesmaid' finally gets her day
I kept her out (for better ground) and the ground is very quick. In fairness she has been running consistently and its nice she's won; hopefully she'll get the hang of it now!
Levins making Jumbo Steps as a trainer
I've never been as nervous! We were taking a chance running him on that ground but I waited on Gary (Carroll) coming back in after the first and he reckoned there was no jar in it. The twice I've come down here with two runners the ground has been produced like a carpet; anywhere else I might have given it a bit more thought but Paddy Graffin (Clerk of the Course) does such a good job around here. Saying that, he wasn't madly in love with the fast ground but is such a game horse. We'll get him home now and might look to Galway.
Maharaja rules and enters Classic picture
we thought he (Indian Maharaja) would be very green and he was even green coming down the hill. He was all over the place looking at everything and then just didn't turn. The ground is quick and he quickened well and was nearly going too quick and started to skid. He's a lovely horse though.
Roja Dove scores for Condon & Coakley
it was a funny race. We thought coming from stall 16 it would be difficult and that we'd have to slot in and do the best we could but she got out quite quickly. she won off 50 last year, was running off 54 today so she has nothing up her sleeve and is what she is. We'll look for something similar and it will do Ross no harm either as he's had a few seconds recently.
Edith Cowan gets back to winning ways
she's an honest old thing. She could have won four now but of course if she had, she wouldn't have this rating!. She goes into the sales ring at Newmarket next week but I'm starting to wonder whether that's a good idea. I'm starting to think that I could 'nick' a bit of black-type with her so I'll have to think about it.
Neophilia on the mark for Irish Derby victors
I have a broodmare now . she has a pedigree. She'll stay a bit further and likes that good ground.
Always Annie wins Gowran finale
the plan was to ride her like that at Limerick but she sat back in the stalls. Everything worked out today and got a nice lead. She's tough and honest and I think when she steps back up in trip there is another day in her. She's won her race though, it's job done and we'll see what the handicapper does now. I think she'll be okay anywhere between 1m2f and 1m6f and she has plenty of options.
