Amateur's ride gains Universal approval
'the amateur' gave that a fair ride!. Universal Truth jumped very well, not jump at that final flight, and he knew his job - we schooled him well at home. The runner-up looks very decent so it was a good performance to win.
Invisible Man slips his rivals
that is my first winner since The Prince won a claimer for me in 2003 . there's no point coming here unless you've the right horse!. Invisible Man did it very nicely and the reasonable pace of the race helped him gain confidence. I only have him two months and some might say it was a shame he didn't get into the Plate tomorrow (second reserve) but he wouldn't quite have the experience to win such a race yet. However, he has great potential, is a novice for this season and will be given a break now.
Local lad Leigh wins on Easy Mate
I decided to claim from Easy Mate, which was set to carry 10st, and Leigh suited. He works for me and has strengthened up in the saddle in the last year. Easy Mate was almost literally knocked down in the Apprentice Derby at The Curragh the last day when she met traffic problems.
Ask Jack wins Topaz Mile for Murphy/Hayes
this race was always a race I wanted to win and it registers up there with my biggest achievements as a trainer, having trained Ardbrae Lady to finish second in an Irish 1,000 Guineas a few years ago and winning the 1982 Thyestes Chase with Felicity's Pet.
Zaminast scores Weld's fifth Galway winner
Zaminast is potentially a very good filly and showed guts and determination to win today. She is a half-sister to Famous Name and will have one more run as a two year old, in either the Moyglare Stakes or the C.L. Weld Park Stakes.
Miss Eze made work to win
the boss man (his recently deceased father Liam) bought Miss Eze and deserves the credit for today's win as he was such a great judge of horses. Miss Eze will run again on Thursday in a similar handicap and should win again!
Parlour completes Weld's four-timer
that win rounded off the day well! Parlour is an immature filly and is a bit weak and backward but she may be capable of gaining blacktype later in the year.
