Plain sailing for Princeton
That's nice. He's a smart type and an improving horse. The handicap experience helped him,. It was a tactical race and two out they were all in with a shout. His experience stood him in good stead. He's experienced and tough and wasn't fazed by the crowd. He won smartly. I liked that and he's a nice horse.
Sarteano proves tough
Everything was right for him today. The 2m6f on good ground and the conditions suited him,. His last two runs were good. He was unlucky in the Irish National also where he was brought down. For him Punchestown was heavy enough but he still ran well to finish third. We gave him a break then and were thinking about the Galway Plate but he wasn't going to get into that so this was the next option. The plan worked out. He jumped great and loves that fast ground. He deserved that as he's been a good horse. He'll probably go for the Kerry National if he gets into it although he likes a good galloping track.
Rainforest runs riot for Weld
He got a nice ride from Pat. This is always a competitive handicap,. He got a run down the hill and the gaps came for him. He came up the hill well. He doesn't want it too firm. That's about as fast as he wants it. He likes nice good summer ground. It's just on the fast side of good. Across the far side it's lovely but on the hill and round the bend it's getting quicker. It's drying rapidly with the sunny evening and we'll see what the week brings. He's in a couple of places but if he was to come back it would be for the amateur handicap hurdle on Friday- with Robbie (McNamara) riding.
Stunning surge as View takes Topaz
He got a lovely ride from Pat. Everthing went according to plan and he was in the right place throughout,. This is always a tough race to win. He appreciates an ease in the ground and my only concern was that it might be too fast. He won here as a two-year-old and has been a consistent, good horse. He had a very good run at Royal Ascot in the Hunt Cup and today was his day. He's a well-bred horse and we'll look at getting black-type with him. The logical way to go is a Listed race. He in again here over seven on Saturday but i think that will do him for the week.
Soon times it right
Major prevails in bunch finish
Weld lands treble as Catch scores for McCreevy
The winner was bred by the owner so it's nice for her,. She had the form having run two very good races and did it nicely today. That's my first winner for the owner. She might go for a winners' of one or a handicap and we'll look at getting her black-type later in the year.
