The Lords Walk wins Sligo's opener
he’s a horse of limited ability but he does his best and that’s his second win and he’s a good horse to pay his way. If he is claimed hopefully he’ll give the next people as much fun as we’ve had with him. He was rated to win that today and Ronan gave him a great ride.
Whelan doubles up on Doyle's Krispen
the rain probably helped as he won on similar ground in Navan last year. I think he’ll go on good ground but the rain was no harm. He’s after developing well over the winter, and he progressed from the run in Listowel. I saw this race a couple of months ago, and the conditions suited him.
Downey rides out claim on Ice Storm
They went a nice gallop and she did it well. The rain is starting to get into the ground, and it’s probably yielding to soft in the back straight now. I’ve mixed feelings to be honest. I’m delighted to get a winner but young Jack Davison (trainer of Downtown Diva) years ago as a kid worked for me in the summer. He’s trying to get his first winner and I’d rather I chinned someone else to be honest but such is life. Anything from that trip up to a mile suits her and the drop of rain didn’t do her any harm. She managed it.
Sirjack Thomas gains first win for new connections
Johnny’s horses are in flying form and this lads done it well today. Johnny said to keep it straight forward as he’s uncomplicated and handles an ease in the ground. He could step him up in trip if he wanted to, and I’m sure there is plenty of improvement.
Sarah Lynam trains her first winner
Sarah made plans to go to Ascot. It used to be her father that went to Ascot but I told her not to cancel as you never know what would happen. She’s over there in the car park jumping up and down and her father gave her the commentary and I went dumb 100 yards out!. I’m delighted for her as she tries very hard and works very hard at it and the owner will be very happy!. She trains out of the same yard as me, and she has the back line and another line. She has about 15 but most of them are two-year-olds. She has very few to race at the minute but this one would talk to you. She’s a well-bred filly and Sarah did well with her to get a win, and Danny rode her well.
