Time and Townend win Sligo's opener
Team Skyace win with Mullins Cross
I’m delighted to have won because the boys from Dubai, who also have Skyace with me, own her and I hope they all got a few quid. They rang me after the finish and all I could hear was ole, ole, ole!. she’s a low grade handicapper but I said to the boys that she’d love the cut in the ground and I’d say that was the winning of it for her. We ran her at Galway in a Flat race because we couldn’t get her into a hurdle race, and they wanted to go racing, and she ran a cracker and was only beaten twelve lengths or so behind the winner.
Digby scores for McLoughlin & Short
the form was in the book and he had been consistent. I think the ground was a bit quick for him in Galway and he's a big horse who appreciated that juice in the ground. He jumped much better and we had been aiming at that, so that was a plus as well. Adam (Short) said he couldn’t pull him up afterwards and said he’s definitely a three-miler. He said he was only getting going at the line. He’s a grand horse, he's just got his confidence so hopefully it’s onwards and upwards with him.
O'Sullivan rides first 'Citizen' winner
she’s a lovely mare. She ran very well here two runs back, when she was unlucky to meet a well-handicapped horse (All Class) and the ground was a bit quick for her, and ran well the last day in Mallow over a shorter trip. She’s a good battler and loved the bit of ease in the ground. There’s a nice mares’ handicap in Listowel and hopefully we’ll go for that.
My Manekineko bags eighth win
he ran great in Galway where he got into a bit of trouble going to the second last but, at this stage, you don’t know when he’s going to turn up or not. He hasn’t won as many races as some other horses, but he’s been in the frame over forty times which is incredible. His enthusiasm is great. He had his two ears pricked today and Gavin said he got a bit keen with him at one stage. It’s great for Gavin as well. He’s been unlucky to get so many falls over the last year or so and he’ll get his turn. He’s a very, very good rider and just needs a little bit of luck.
Brouder completes 356/1 double
he’s a lovely horse belonging to two great owners of ours (Addergoole More Partnership). He was right down in the weights and he did it well. The ground turned right for him because he loves yielding ground. He jumped like a stag and Gavin gave him a great spin. You can’t beat a lad who’ll do what he’s told - he went wide so as not to be on the chopped-up ground. He’ll go for something similar in a fortnight’s time.
'No regrets' as Taaffe's son rides winner for Mullins
Winners are always nice, particularly when you don’t have to train them!.
