Synopsis takes fences in her stride
She was entitled to win on ratings and the race just came for her. She'll mix it between the flat and jumps and David (Spratt, owner) has a lot of flat horses and has a race picked out for her on the flat in a month's time. She is a novice (chaser) for the summer now.
Elliott doubles up through Goodthynemilan
I thought she might only be good enough to finish third to be honest on ratings but she is honest and she jumps and gallops. I think I might be able to win one more race with her.
Walsh delighted to be back with a winner
Zipporah another for Mee and O'Shea
That was great - I was worried about the couple of days off last week with the snow but in hindsight it helped her, as she is very active. She is a hard mare because she is very hard on herself and keeps me very fit at home because you hop on board and then it's straight into fifth gear and hang on tight!. All credit to the mare as she was off the track for two years and if only I could bottle her enthusiasm!. She is an 11-year-old mare now and has won four races and two point-to-points and we'll probably go over a little fence the next day and this will more than likely be her last season in and then she'll go breeding. Brian was fantastic on her and is very obliging and schools a bit for me too. I'm delighted for Michael Mee who also bred her and has four horses in training with me. He came to me last year and we've had four or five winners now.
The Conditional rewards Hassett's faith
We're delighted and Andrew said he'd improve 10 or 15 lengths from the last day and he was a horse we always liked. Normally we'd have those type of horses sold but we wanted to prove a point with this lad; selling is the name of the game and if we can sell them, we sell them but if we don't we stay going. We said we'd come here and it is our home venue and Andrew was very sweet on him. He is a nice horse and jumped a lot better today. If he's not now sold we could look at some of the festival meetings but obviously Cheltenham is out of the question!
Hassett gets his first double at his local track
When you're doing a double, you have to do it in your home track! That's my first double and she do it in style and never came off the bridle. She's a mudlark despite being only a pony and when Robbie Power rode her the last day, he said the day when it's almost unraceable, is the day she's going to win and he was right. It is hard to imagine because she is so small. She is a half-sister to Jazz Messenger and we'll take it race by race with her but will look for black-type eventually. I've only four horses in training and work full-time in Coolmore so it's a family operation. Last week was very frustrating and I spent five nights in a row getting up every hour to clear the gallop with the tractor but still we ended up missing three days exercising the horses. I was going to work as well and thank god the schools were closed because my young lad stayed on until 2am one morning and then I got up and did it then. The elements did eventually beat us and there's now a foot of snow on the gallop. This is great for everyone though and now we've a double up, we might feel like real trainers!
Voix Des Tiep brings up brace for Mullins
There's a big difference running up the country and running down the country. He is a horse that works very well and hurdles might bring about more improvement. He is a big tall horse and has schooled well and it's great for him to get his head in front because he has run very well without winning. He could possibly go for a winners' bumper.
