Pop Star upsets Yosemite Valley in Navan opener
Bid For Chester comes good to book place in Sales race
He fired a warning shot the other day and Chris (Hayes) came in and said he was a bit green when he went for him. When he came through them today the hill suited him. Hopefully now he'll go to the sales race, the Goffs Sportman's Challenge in Naas on September 14th. That was the plan all year.
Francis Meynell another nice juvenile for O'Callaghan
He's a horse I've taken my time with. He's quite enthusiastic at home so we went back to basics with him and we've slowly let him get himself ready for this. He's going to improve plenty. It's more so his mind that made him look so professional today but I think he'll improve a lot from what he's done at home. It looked like a good race on paper beforehand, with the form of Ger's and a few others, so for him to go and do that first time out and Leigh said he thought that he was only in second gear. I thought if he was able to win his maiden today and he looked nice that I might pitch him into something like the Flying Childers. He's quick, he'd get six furlongs I'd say, but he has a lot of speed and there is no point trying to tame it. I'm not trying to talk him up but I honestly don't know where the bottom of him is.
Nika Pika scores for Magee & Kearney
The drier ground probably helped today, she just got stuck in gluey ground in Galway. She had a great run in the Curragh, it was soft ground there but it was loose. I'm delighted, she got the mile really well and will get further as she's a half-sister to a two-mile hurdle winner. I thought the ground might be quick enough but Jack said they are getting their toe into it. We'll look at a nursery now, maybe in Listowel, today was the plan. I was just trying to win a race with this filly, she only cost €1,000, and today was an opportunity to win a race. I didn't want to get rid of her and I'm happy to have her.

33/1 Charlies Darling leads home 1-2 for Cromwell
I was watching it from the stands and I'll have to see a head-on but obviously he leaned in on top of him. We fancied the second horse, I thought he ran a cracker the last day when the ground was just a bit too quick for him. The step up in trip here today, and the little bit of ease in the ground suited. Charlie Darling actually ran a good race the last day in a claimer. I couldn't believe he was only in for four thousand and nobody claimed him. That was grand, claiming 5lb off him and it was nice. Robert is down to 5lb the other day and he's coming on.
Joyce strikes again aboard Enquire Within
The longer I have her the more she wants to stay. She hasn't that tactical speed and I'd say the track plays to her strengths big time, a big galloping track and she didn't really have to quicken. What can I say about Wesley, he gave her a brilliant ride. He gave her loads of confidence down the back. Her owner can't be here today. This is a serious lucky track for me, that's two runners for this lady (Maura McGuinness) here and both of them have won.
Dual purpose Tory Reel relishes Navan stamina test
He has a lovely Flat mark, he stays very well and he needs that kind of a trip. I'm delighted for the syndicate that own him, they are a lovely racing bunch. He'll go jumping in Listowel, I'd imagine that will be the plan. We'll have a look at Dundalk for the winter after that.
