Well-bred Pious gets off the mark
She's well bred and her half-sister (Anthem Alexander) won her maiden here and let's hope she can go on from it now. She was always going to win her maiden but it's just how long it took a bad trainer to get her to win one. She's talented but is a bit like me in that she thinks too much!. I thought she was very unlucky the last day and to find another Listed race like that will be hard because the next Listed race on turf is here at the end of August and the next after that is on sand. We'll aim for black-type and she won't run in handicaps and we could travel abroad with her.
Ruby shows her true worth
We thought she was a nice filly but nothing went right for her the first day so I was easy on her. She actually surprised me how well she picked up and I'd say she's a nice filly.
Zippy lands some nice bets
Donagh gave her a no nonsense ride and was in a winning position all the way around and she travelled in like the best horse. She was in off a lenient mark and it was an ordinary race. It's great to get a first winner for the Esteem Racing Club. They've a nice bunch of ladies and gentlemen in the Club and don't have that much room for more.
Cirin makes all under Manning for Bolger
Hamley another for red-hot Fahey
Ranger lands on-course punt
We were fancying him tonight but we were worrying about the draw in 10. He did it well and hopefully he can win again. We always liked him and I have him entered at Gowran on Tuesday and he'll run if he's right.
Fahey's to the fore at Tipperary
118/1 double for Levins & O'Connor
I'm absolutely delighted and Donagh was absolutely brilliant. We had a plan in our head and it went out the window after the first couple of furlongs and Donagh reverted to Plan F and was absolutely brilliant on him!. He's a nice horse and while it's a long time since he was rated very high (103 in Germany), he had a couple of bad runs on the all-weather and the ground at Cork the last day was just too firm and he never left himself down. The rain that fell was welcomed and he appreciated the ease and obviously he had the ability to do it and thankfully he did it today, on a day when we already had a winner. I'm delighted for the owner (Levins' fiancee Tara Browne who was attending a wedding) as it's her first winner in the colours.
