Bearly provides Thornton with first Irish win
I only took over the licence from my father Sean at Christmas time and that is my first winner in Ireland. We had a winner a in Southwell recently (Father Shine, July 15th). This fellow will probably go for a novice hurdle next and then have a break. He is immature and you probably won't see the best of him until he goes over fences.
Heskin continues his excellent run aboard Fox
She should have won a bumper. Barry Geraghty rode her recently and he said to put a tongue tie on her as she wasn't breathing well enough. We put a grackle noseband and tongue tie on her the last day but it didn't work. Laura (Hourigan's daughter) said she didn't think she needed it so we left everything off today. The young ones are telling me what to do nowadays!. She is in foal to Getaway and we have just two to three weeks to find another race for her before she is finished.
Wooly Tom justifies favouritism at Limerick
Wooly Tom settled really well today but is still learning. He is quite an energetic horse and just needs to learn to switch off in his races. Long-term he'll make a lovely chaser and while he'll be very good over fences at some stage, I'd hate to ruin him by running him over fences too soon.
Dinero gets Flynn off the cold list
It's a long time since he got good ground. He was running on the wrong ground all along but the sun came out for him today. I'm delighted for the owners (the Winonesoon Syndicate). That is their third win with this fellow and they have been with me from the very start. He has an entry at Galway and although his weight will rise after today he still probably won't get in. I think today was his Derby.
Three & easy for Baily Green
He was a joy to watch. I would nearly ride him myself! . He won't go to Galway as it will probably be soft there and he needs good ground.
Walsh's fortune picks up with Ploopluck
Joy for punters as Oscars takes the last
She's not big but she has a heart of gold and is as tough as nails. Patrick thinks she will improve. She jumps well and she has run in a schooling hurdle.
