Afonso scores in runaway fashion
The better ground made all the difference as Henry hated soft ground. That's the first bit of reasonable ground we've got in a while. The Phoenix Stakes could be a possible target for him now.
Grafelli battles to Tyros success
He showed his class again today. He stays the trip well and shouldn't have any trouble with a mile. He will have a bit of a break now and then go to France for the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère (Group 1) on Arc day. I never saw a horse to go on that ground on Sunday (soft to heavy) and lose just a kilo in weight. He was back to exactly the same weight this evening.
Fairy flies home to please punters
He was good. We were going to wait for Galway but, with the way the ground is there at the moment, we decided to run here. If it does dry out at Galway he'll head there. He needs good ground and may just sneak into the premier seven furlongs handicap on the Saturday.
Another Meld for Weld & Famous
What can I say, he does it all. That is his eighteenth win and seventeen of those have come at either Listed or Group level. He must be getting close to a record total of Stakes race wins. We toyed with the idea of going to Germany on Sunday but it would have took four days to get there and the temperature is 30 degrees. There is a lot of thunderstorms forecast for there on Sunday as well. The Royal Whip at the Curragh is the logical follow on from here and this is his ground tonight. He is also entered in the Irish Champion Stakes here. He loves it at Leopardstown and that is his twelfth win here.
Cat dances in for promising apprentice
That was a terrific ride by the young lad. She is tricky enough and it's great to get a win with her. We'll see what the handicapper makes of her. A mile and a quarter is probably her trip, and she will go on better ground.
I Have A Dream looks set for step up in class
They went slow and he was in a good position. He seems to be coming to himself now and hopefully he'll be better than a handicapper but we will have to wait and see.
Well backed Katiola takes the last for Oxx
She did that well. Her first run was on very soft ground and it didn't tell us a lot. We have been waiting a long time for this better ground. She will probably go for a fillies handicap next. She is a nice relaxed filly and hopefully she can improve a bit. She certainly stays well.
