He's a good horse but had never got the rub of the green. Hopefully that might be the start of it,. He hasn't run for a year over hurdles so hopefully will improve off that. I wouldn't run him on soft but hopefully we'll get plenty of ground between now and November.

It's easy to train a horse that has an engine and can gallop. I definitely think there is more in him and he should get two miles two furlongs. I'll look at Listowel next for him. Andrew rode him very well. He knows how to switch him off and the arrangement is that he rides him if the weight allows him to.

Grangeclare battles to success

There was going to be a two-and-a-half mile handicap hurdle somewhere for her and everything fell into place today,. She had two good runs on the Flat. The last day here she got held up a bit in the straight and got no run. She's a nice mare and is from a good family. I might go back on the Flat with her where is is rated 77. She has to have quick ground - she can't operate on soft. So there is a limit on time with her. As long as the sun keeps shining we can run her.

Drop Anchor sinks punters

He runs a bit green for a horse that has run so often. He ran in snatches today but is a good jumper. I might go to England with him. He needs good ground. Perth in September could be an option.

Martin and Walsh at the double

He's a tough little horse who is full of heart and bottle. He's entered at Galway on Sunday but won't go there now.

Talab shows his talent

He is a huge horse but is only five. There's plenty of scope with him. He wouldn't be a handicapper yet as he is only learning the game so I'll look for a winners of one race for him on good ground.

Smokey Joe Joe lands the bumper

He is a very nice horse. He won his point to point by a distance. Nina gave him a smashing ride. He'll go for a winners' bumper next.
