Mount has too many Guns for rivals
He's a nice horse and I've always thought a bit of him. He works fast and works like he has speed but we got codded and the trip has made a difference. He was staying on in his races and the step up in trip was a help. He doesn't want winter heavy but it was nice to see a cut and he handled it. He'll be kept on the go.
Inspired early money for Ridestan
Conor Hoban advised me to buy him last autumn. He's a good judge, and hopefully I'll be able to put him up on the horse at some stage. The owners could have a bit of fun out of him over the summer. When we bought him he was a bit weak and we put him away over the winter. The ground was too heavy at Navan (only previous hurdle run) and the trip was probably a bit sharp on his last Flat run in a good race at Tipperary. He's been working well and he loves jumping. He'll probably mix it between hurdles and the Flat.
Hogan doubles up on Dubh
Fair play to Denis as he gave her a very confident ride. I'd also like to praise JP McNamara (son of winning owner Clare) as he's a vital part of my yard. Hopefully she'll go in again over hurdles, and she's also rated 52 on the Flat. She has options of going chasing and could go to Galway.
Cloudy records surprise win for O'Donovan
That wasn't expected. I knew he had ability and he'd been placed in a bumper but he never seemed to do it.
Mallards provides 33/1 shock under Benson
I lost Balrath Hope who broke a shoulder and have four in training. She really wanted the trip and today was her day. Hopefully she might win another one.
Burke ends amateur career in style
I had my 700th winner last week and I'm heading for the 1,000! The Flynn's (owners) and myself go back a long way with Aries Girl and a few more and it's great that they are here today. This horse had trouble eating but is back on his grub now. He wants goodish ground and that's as sticky as he wants it.
