The Raceday Stewards interviewed J. Smith, rider of Ragin Cajun, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the Whip Regulation and stated that he miscounted how many horses were in front of him. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that J. Smith was in breach of R.10.3(b)(out of contention) and having considered his record in this regard (second offence), they suspended him for four racedays
At the request of the Raceday Stewards, Mr D. Doyle, rider of Delias Pet, trained by Timothy Doyle, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount is always ridden cold but ended up too far back
