Oscar takes advantage of chase rating

Keeping him around or below Cashel seems to be the way with this fellow. He's a hardy little buck and this time last year he was only rated 89 but he keeps pulling out some more. I thought the ground would catch him but he's a plucky little fellow. He'll probably stay over fences as he's rated far too high over hurdles. He's nowhere near a mid-130's horse.

He's a lovely big chaser and is only passing time before he goes over fences. He's normally a great jumper but didn't jump well today. But I blame the ground as that was the worry coming here today. He might have one more run on better ground in a novice hurdle before being let off and will go chasing next season.

Mikael adds to Fogarty's hot streak

He did no more than he should have done. Mikey said he jumped well and, unless a race comes up over fences that he's well in, he won't run over fences. Mikey has ridden winners for us in the past as an amateur, and has been riding out most mornings.

It's a 0-95 handicap and we're not getting carried away but we knew he had a shout as Shane was reasonably confident. He hasn't been simple to train but has turned inside out recently. He should have a chance of winning another handicap but today's race was the worse form of a handicap you could get. My horses are after turning a corner and I'm looking forward to the next 12 months with them.

That will be him now for the season. He's done his work and will go out on grass for the summer. He showed a nice bit on his first hurdle run but disappointed a bit in a bumper at Leopardstown. It's a bonus to win a bumper with him, and he'll go hurdling in the autumn.
