Martin's filly Steely from the front
She won well at Leopardstown and then things didn't happen for her at Navan and she ran a stinker at Roscommon. The favourite (Make It Hurrah) coming out was a help. She handles most types of ground and seems to stay that trip well. She's entered at Leopardstown next Thursday.
Bargain buy Fairy lands punt
She had a good run at the Curragh where she got a bit squashed for room and she's come on from there. She's grown into a fine strong filly, and it's hard to believe she cost just 3,000 Euros. I'm a great fan of this series, and the race she ran in at the Curragh is working out very well.
Hailstone now headed for Listed company
He's improving all the time. Every day I go to the races he's that bit heavier and I wonder am I doing enough with him. He got beaten in a few maidens last year through immaturity but he's shown such lick in his last few runs that I was anxious to try him over the six (furlongs). He's getting faster, and he's getting bigger and stronger. He's also genuine and sound. I'd imagine that he's going to get a huge jump (in the ratings) and I think he's going to have to try a Listed sprint. He's gone into that class now.
Roper filly puts experience to good use
Seamie said she's very genuine and she tried her heart out there. There is a Premier Handicap coming up at the Curragh (on June 11) over five (furlongs) and if it got soft it might be worth making an entry.
Empress Lyla provides birthday present
It's Anna German's birthday today and she rides her out and leads her up so it's great,.
Mistiness gets right ground and trip to win
He wanted the ground and it was the right trip. The blinkers helped him to focus a bit. Ross comes into me one morning a week and is a great asset. The horses are all running well and I'm delighted to get that. He can jump through the summer but needs to get his jumping technique a bit smarter.
Dream start for Luke McAteer
Harrington brace and now eyes on the Oaks
She is a beautifully bred filly. I was delighted with her run at the Curragh. She progressed from there and this is another step forward. The Irish Oaks is in about six weeks, and we can get another run in beforehand.
