Walsh takes advantage of rival's ban
He deserved to win on his form, and had a great run at Leopardstown the last day. He made hard work of it but as a four-year-old the ground (officially soft, soft to heavy in places) may have taken its toll. All he can do is go on. He has a staying pedigree, and he showed today that he stays well. He's probably not good enough to be a Triumph Hurdle horse after his run the last day but he'll get an entry in the Fred Winter.
Walsh doubles up with Furze
We'll keep it country for the time being. He's learning how to make mistakes but get away with them. Experience is all he needs. It's a pity with him because when he gets things right he's spectacular. But he looses the plot occasionally. He's learning slowly.
Kate makes all to book Cheltenham ticket
Her owner Philip Reynolds should go skiing more often, and he missed her last win as well. She's tough and stays well but idles a bit in front. We might go back for the Mares race at Cheltenham. She was fifth last year when she was a bit unlucky in running. She's older and more mature now. She's better going left-handed as she leans a bit that way. She will stay hurdling for this season, and go back as a novice over fences next season.
Better is Alright for local man Casey
He's a home-bred and won his point-to-point at Dromahane last October. I'm delighted to win a maiden hurdle with him. I stuck him in a handicap hurdle at Thurles next Thursday. He'll probably have one more run over hurdles, and then we'll leave him off and go chasing in the autumn.
Suprstar grinds out victory
Jones is on the mark again with Eko
He had plenty of experience but the ground was not ideal as it was a bit tacky for him. We'll tip away now until the ground gets too quick, and he'll go for a handicap.
