Third time lucky for Santiago
He had the experience, had a good draw and bounced and travelled easy. He did it nicely, . Off the bend I asked him to quicken and when you ask them to quicken that early, you are going to gain a few lengths but fade a bit late-on, if a decent horse comes at me. I thought it was a decent performance. He is a smart horse and will make into a nice little stayer next year.
Franklyn doubles up for Howard
Getaway Katie Mai sharp enough over a mile
Getting her toe into the ground is a big help to her, . She got knocked about a bit early-on coming out of the stalls at Killarney and never got into her rhythm. When I saw the ground here I gave her a squeak but it is a surprise to see her win coming back to a mile - it shows her ability. I'll speak to Frank (Berry, racing manager) but I'd imagine she'll mix it (between flat and hurdling) now.
Rock De Baune outstays rivals
Saglawy shows plenty of speed after his lay-off
He was quite keen early on and for the first four furlongs I had no cover and had no horses in front of me, . Once I got him behind horses he switched off a bit and quickened away lovely. He had two good runs from a very good four year old crop from last year before he got injured. I think it looks like he has a nice mark on the flat and could be one for those staying flat handicaps. We think he is still well handicapped over hurdles and there might be a strongly run two mile hurdle in him; he was just behind (subsequent Galway Hurdle winner) Tudor City in one at Fairyhouse one day so we might look at that.
Davids Charm making his own luck as he takes feature event
Two years ago he was beaten a short-head in this race and was unlucky in the Galway Hurdle where he was caught at the start and got squeezed up passing the stands, . He was only beaten four lengths and he lost more than that in the race so I thought he would have won. Philip knew the horse from Galway and I told him to keep him out of trouble today and he gave him a brilliant ride; Philip is as cute as a fox!. He's not unlucky any more and won handy enough. The Cesarewitch is next and we'll see after the Cesarewitch what to do. He has never jumped a fence and Tom O'Brien (owner) says to keep him away from the fences but I think he would jump a fence.
Bothar Dubh notches fourth win of the year
He is a mighty little horse, . He was bought very handy and took a little while to find his feet but has kept improving and I always said the step up to three miles would suit. Sean gave him a beautiful ride and it all worked out and I'm delighted of the owners who are great supporters of mine. He is more a winter horse and everything played to his strengths today. The owners bought him for fun and love going racing and to think he has now won four races is unbelievable, and they can't believe it and it's a dream come true.
Treacys a 50/1 boil-over in the last
That was great. We gave him a run last week and he has come on a lot from it, . It was a surprise as he struggled a bit last week but he improved more than we thought. He always showed plenty potential but has had loads of little niggly problems the whole time. He is my first horse and that was my second runner; I got the licence in July and only have two horses to run.
