Boy's win brings back memories of glory days
Promotion demotion all in the family
I backed him at 12/1 and couldn't understand why he wasn't 5/1 - maybe the whole place followed me I suppose (returned at 8/1)!. He has had his problems but had luck on his side and you'd have been happy with a dead-heat. I wouldn't have been crying too much if we didn't get it. He'll go for something similar next and might also chance a fence soon.
Benny delivers on point-to-point promise
Denis gave him a lovely ride and I'm very happy with him. He likes a bit of nice ground,. Ray Loughnane who owns him and bred him is here with his family today so they'll have got a great kick out of that. He won a point to point well at Lisronagh on good ground so obviously that's his ground and they have done a great job watering it.
Cahirconree sheds maiden tag on 15th start
He has been 'knocking' and has been suffering with seconditis a bit but he's got there!,. He's consistent and had some decent runs but just hit the cross bar a couple of times. Chasing is probably his game (ran over hurdles latest) and hopefully he'll pick up a few more along the way.
Top Of The Town delights connections
I'm very happy with him and he'll tip away for the summer. He needs three miles and good ground and while he's not the biggest in the world, he jumps well,. I thought he'd a good chance but was a small bit worried when they put on all the water. We weren't over confident but all the owners (from the Top Of The Town Bar in Askeaton) backed him this morning at 7/4 and 2/1. There aren't many winners' of one races for the summer so he might have to go handicapping now.
Tara so good in hunter chase
He's entered at Killarney but it's unlikely he'll run as we'd be getting greedy! . He's in the sale at Doncaster at the end of the month.
Murphy off the mark in the training ranks
I only got my license on Wednesday and entered her on Thursday so it's a lovely way to start. I did my course in November but had nothing to run,. She was always a nice mare but was a baby last year. I had her to train for the autumn and she won really well at Quakerstown under Gerry Mangan. He unfortunately broke two ribs last weekend and was unable to ride her. I thought if she was able to be fifth here last year, she'd have a right chance today with someone else up! (Murphy rode her himself then). Her dam is a half-sister to Rhinestone Cowboy and Wichita Lineman and is a half-sister to two black-type horses. I've been very lucky as Trevor Hemmings has been absolutely brilliant to me and I had a lot of horses to pre-train for him last winter - I've been breaking horses for him for 13 years. I came to the conclusion that I would have to stop riding when I had Mr Hemmings' horses and being 42, I decided to concentrate on the 30 horses at home. It depends on what Joe (O'Sullivan, owner) wants to do but she could go for a winners' bumper next or else the sales. I have one more mare for the track.
Patrick's the man in the pointer's bumpers
He stood at the start at Cork when he got a fright with the tape but I'd say he's a real front-runner and just gallops and gallops,.
