Emperor leaves Dundalk debut well behind him
He did it well. We were disappointed with him first time out as we think he's useful. He'll go to Naas now at the start of June for a new race there . a six furlong race for colts. I don't know whether he'd be good enough to win but hopefully he'll get a placing anyway. Trevor is a gentleman to train for and he bred this one and has the dam . Se la Vie. Hopefully that's the first leg of a double as United play Chelsea after four today!
Fallon 4th as O'Brien wins mile & a half maiden
Zerashan all the way
That was a great ride from the front by Johnny Murtagh. He's a grand horse that done well over the winter. He'll go jumping eventually. The next step for him is the premier handicap over a mile and a half at the Curragh on Guineas weekend. He is a straight-forward genuine horse. He wouldn't want winter ground but he can handle a bit of dig.
Recital gets job done in Derby Trial
Recital is lazy once he hits the front. I thought the pace came back on top of him in that race. The plan is now to go to the Derby (Epsom). Recital has a lot of speed where as the likes of Seville is a more laid-back horse.
Famous win for Fahy with Ballybacka
That's my first stakes winner. We've been very lucky with her and we've just a few for the flat. She broke smart today which made all the difference. I was worried about her with the stalls after what happened her at Dundalk last time (dwelt when sixth there a month ago). She had decent form in the book and it is unbelievable to have a filly like that. She'll go for the Guineas at the Curragh now, Fran said she is well-entitled to take her chance.
Moran Gra back to his best
He's a good horse . it's easier training good horses. He'd been working very well and we fancied him today. The owners (Donal Breen and Michael Ryan) had a few quid on. I might take him for a big handicap at Royal Ascot as the owners would be keen to travel. He's a laid-back horse but he doesn't like to be in the middle of the action . he needs daylight.
Famous Name does it again at Leopardstown
Famous Name is a proper horse. I think he's won close to a million Euros in win and place prize-money now . he was second in a French Derby. He is entered in the Tattersalls Gold Cup and before that I'll review today's race and see what runs at the Curragh. For a six-year-old colt he's a joy to train. He's just so consistent. We might look at the Irish Champion Stakes with him. It wasn't his day in that race last year but he still finished on their heels.
