Espoir D'Allen lands the odds in Juvenile Hurdle
I was very impressed with that as he took it up early and went about his business and did it well. Leopardstown will be on the cards and he will certainly get an entry. I’ll have to talk to JP and Frank and see what they want to do. He doesn’t show very much at home but when he comes to the track he answers all the questions. I think he’s versatile ground wise, and horses by the sire Voix Du Nord seem to dig deep. He hasn’t been asked yet but I think he’ll stay very well.
Mengli Khan takes Royal Bond in style
I was disappointed with him last year and said we’d keep him as a novice for this season. He could be a better horse on better ground and is a two-miler which we don’t have too many of. Gigginstown buy big three-mile chasers but it’s nice to have a few of them as well. We will probably have a look at something over Christmas but we’ll get him home after today and make sure he’s in one piece. He’ll stick to two miles, and if everything stays right we have a few nice horses for each of the categories. He’s a big horse and Hugo Palmer did some job to get him to the track as a two-year-old. With the ear plugs on today he nearly switched off too much but he’s a good horse and is learning all the time.
Progressive Charm claims big pot
The first race that he won (at Listowel) he nearly turned back, and the next day he won at Galway he nearly forgot to take the bend into the straight. At Listowel the last day he didn’t get the clearest of runs and he should have won there as well. We were worried about the ground and Rachael said the same thing. Hopefully he’ll progress away. The handicapper may not be too nice to him and he may have to go novice hurdling now. We may not do much with him until the ground gets a bit better again.

He’s a lovely horse and is from the Miss Muppet family. He’s unassuming at home and just does what he has to do. He jumps well and does everything lovely. He worked lovely up here last year and we were going to run him in the spring but the ground dried out a bit and we threw him out (for the summer). He could be a Cheltenham horse.
