Engles Rock scores for McNiff and Orr
she had some great some runs last year and some middling runs and I'd say an ease in the ground is essential for her. We've been waiting and waiting and thank god she got some ease in it today and got out and got a run. She probably wants further and we'll go up to a mile and hope to get an ease in the ground again next.
Defining wins Battle for Cleary & Halford
. He was only going through the motions coming into the straight but in fairness he did it the hard way as there is a strong head-wind.
Blankiedoodie gains second win this week
strictly speaking we were a pound well in but when we saw the draw we though 'ah god'! I told Gary (Carroll) before the race that if he won from his draw (in 17) I would be extolling his virtues to the press so you'd have to give it to him as it was a super ride. He thinks the horse is just getting his confidence now and he seems versatile ground-wise and came back in trip today on a tightish track. He doesn't owe us anything with two wins in five days and he might be back here again in September.
Fogarty & Marnane on the mark with Session
He hadn't run in a year before he ran the last day and was a bit lazy and today Shane was saying he was lazy too. We fancied him coming here as he is after improving a good bit since his run the last day. He is a nice horse and is by Noble Mission and they all stay.
Well-backed Newcross takes the last in style
The young lad (Tom Hamilton) was very good on him and with his 5lbs claim you were racing off your proper weight against Derek (O'Connor) and Lisa (O'Neill) so the young lad is as good as any of them. He is a good horse on his day but has had his issues. I don't where we'll run next as we'll take him home and see where we go. I think he needs a cut (in the ground).
