Mega Mindy wins Fairyhouse opener at 20/1
Shark said after her run over hurdles the last day, that this was her plan. She had previously been off for a while but he had this race in mind and fancied her big-time. His horses are flying and it’s great to ride a winner on one of these days. I needed a jump at the last but to be fair she had a bit left and she pulled up a bit when she got to the front.
Zanahiyr cut for Triumph, Morans bag first Graded win
we thought he was nice at home, he did it well in Ballinrobe and I thought he came on a lot from the race. I thought it was a good performance. Jack said he travelled and jumped. He did it all very easily.
Ballyadam justifies favouritism in Royal Bond win
Jack (Kennedy) gave him a grand ride, followed the leaders and kept it simple. He said he is still a bit novicey with his jumping and that's only his second ever run over hurdles. He said he'd learn plenty from that and said he won snug and never emptied him completely. I'll discuss it with the owners but I'd imagine Christmas at Leopardstown will be the obvious next plan.
Elliott's 'horse of a lifetime' wins Drinmore
I should have just shut my mouth. having hyped future Gold Cup winner Don Cossack, but today fell into the same trap with obvious talent Envoi Allen, declaring .he is a horse of a lifetime. He is a superstar and we are very lucky to have him.
Court Maid wins €125K Porterstown Chase
I told Rory Larkin (owner) that her target was the Irish National and she won here today with the prizemoney bumped up so it is great. She has the class and while she ran disappointed at Punchestown, everything went wrong for her then and I put a line through it and I was expecting a nice run today. She has a class pedigree and I knew when she'd step up (in trip), she'd improve. Today was the target and she is now a top novice over a trip so we'll see.
Unbeaten Honeysuckle wins Hatton's Grace
it was a tougher race than the odds suggested but there is no easy Grade 1. It was great to see her win on her first run back but I'm delighted with the performance. Last year the Irish Champion Hurdle didn't do us any harm so we might look at that but we'll see how she is after today and makes plans. You'd always be tempted by races like the Champion Hurdle (in March) but we'll head for the Irish Champion Hurdle and then maybe we will firm up on plans.
Brouder returns with Grade A win
