Masseto could be Ascot-bound after winning debut
He was very good I thought because he was very green. He broke slow and travelled in snatches. When he quickened up it looked like he passed half the field in half a furlong and then he looked like he idled when he got there. He's obviously got plenty of talent. Looking at that you'd have to hope he's an Ascot two-year-old. On paper it looked like a good race, I know Dad liked his (Amalfi Coast) and Joseph liked his (fourth home Andreas Vesalius). There were plenty of other nice pedigrees in there. I suppose you'd have to look towards the Coventry. He was very green, we'll see how he comes out of it then have a look and see what suits him. I don't think it would be any harm if there was another race before hand.
Gordon Bennett motors home for Brabazon
That was a bit of excitement at the start of the season for us. We always thought he was a lovely horse but he's a horse that gets himself a bit upset and he was running too free in his maidens last year. He was just doing it the wrong way around, showing tons of speed and then not getting home. I said to Nathan today 'just do one thing, try and get cover and then take it from there'. He did it beautifully and the horse settled for him. I was nearly more thrilled about that than winning because looking to the future we can manage him a bit now. He's a kind horse but he just gets himself in a state, he has to grow up a bit mentally but he's got a fair engine. He was working better than Hayyel who ran well last week so we knew he had the engine and it was just a case of would the temperament and the occasion be okay. Luckily it all worked out. It's great for a new syndicate, it's a pity they're not here. They've been great all along and anything I've said about the horse they've gone along with. I'm thrilled for them all and I hope they got a bit of fun out of it. He might get seven now that he's relaxed in a race. That's what I was hoping as you are a bit restricted if you can only do five. That was nearly six today and I think in time he'll get seven. I think he's a nice horse for the future. Physically and mentally we are only starting.
Missy gains second win for Collins
I'm delighted. She's probably been a little bit disappointing for us because we expected more of her early on. She's come well in her coat and was pleasing us so we decided to come here as it was a fillies handicap. Ronan's given her a lovely ride and she came off the pace well so she probably just needs a very strong run race. She was only beaten a few lengths in some good races. She was maybe a little bit unlucky in Dundalk when she finished sixth (in the Belgrave Stakes) as she got into trouble on the bend. Mr. Rogers is an owner/breeder and that black-type is elusive, hopefully she can get it. She's probably a filly that lacked confidence and hopefully she can go forward from here.

Six in a row for Vintage Crop winner Baron Samedi
He's one of those unbelievable horses that has kept improving. Even turning in a few lads said 'you're beat here' but he never knows when he's beat. He seems to love a fight and he keeps quickening up. It was Dylan's first ride in a Group race, and a winner. He's a smashing rider for a young lad. That's the quickest the horse would have run on but he said he seemed to float away on it. He just kept pulling out that bit more and you just don't know when he's going to stop improving. He's filled out this year and he's a bigger horse. He just keeps improving all the time. You never know he could end up going to Australia with the others. If he stays sound the world is his oyster at the moment over staying trips.
Pempie hits the target for the Hartys
She's a lovely mare. She caught my attention when she was entered in the Goffs February Sale online. Pat Murphy had won with her in January, and also been second. It's unusual to buy a five-year-old mare (for E22,000) to continue racing but she looked like she had more to offer. In fairness to Pat he was very open and said he would have liked to keep her if the opportunity arose. We were delighted to get her and bought her with the turf in mind. We thought she'd win a race like this and we were hoping when she did she'd be eligible for all those premier handicaps. We'll pick out a few races now and go pot hunting. It's great for the (Eddie Harty) racing club which has some really enthusiastic members and hopefully we can get some more guys in there on the back of that. She ran well at Leopardstown and we were still learning a lot about her. She fell out of the stalls from a bad draw but showed plenty of encouragement. I'm delighted with what she's done today and I think she'll improve again for it.
